Balance & Flexibility
The DAHLC offers many options to enhance your flexibility and mindfulness. You will find the support you need to connect your mind to your body, which will directly translate into a deeper connection into your daily life. The DAHLC offers several formats of mind/body classes no matter what your fitness level, condition or body type. Some options include Yoga, Pilates, Alexander Technique, Foam Rolling and Guided Meditation.
Yoga- Yoga is a process of stretching, balancing and strengthening using the connection of breath, mind, and body. Yoga provides you with the opportunity to decrease stress and increase energy. Your strength and balance will improve as you continue to practice yoga. And of course, you will gain flexibility both physically and mentally. Classes are available for all levels of ability.
Pilates - Pilates is an exercise method that strengthens the body’s core. Having a strong core is the foundation to any fitness program. The benefits of regular practice of Pilates include:
- improved body awareness
- decreased back pain
- improved sports performance
- better balance
- a longer, leaner physique
- overall strength
- better posture
Pilates Drop-in Classes – Drop-in classes are listed on the Group Fitness Schedule. Pilates Core, Pilates Sculpt and Pilates Balance & Control are held in the Mind Body Studio.
Pilates Reformer - a multi-week program that will introduce participants to Pilates Reformer exercises. Pilates Reformer sessions are held in the Reformer Studio. Five levels of Pilates Reformer are offered: Essential 1, Essential 2, Experienced, Challenge, and Gentle (formerly Referral).
