“Find humor in most everything”

Our featured Wellness Champion for the month of June is Tracy Hilton! Tracy is a Biospecimen Technologist/Cytotechnologist in the Research Clinical Studies Unit in Florida. Tracy has had a passion around health and well-being for most of her life. Outside of work, Tracy stays busy participating in charity fundraisers from cycling to stair climbing to 5K walks and half-marathons. She lives a balanced life by spending quality time with family, volunteering, squeezing in time outdoors and taking care of three incredibly spoiled cats.

Tracy says, “My approach to wellness is to stay active, find humor in most everything and be an encourager.” One fun fact about Tracy is that she incorporates workouts into her everyday activities. For example, she adapts the chore of scooping out the litter boxes into a core exercise! Tracy's laid back and quiet style allows for her colleagues to feel comfortable approaching her, especially those who might be unfamiliar or apprehensive about living a healthier lifestyle. Some of the wellness activities that Tracy has organized in her work group include a walking/step challenge, a healthy potluck and a build-your-own yogurt parfait day.

Her work as a Wellness Champion and her natural personality have had a positive impact on her department as several of her colleagues have been motivated to participate in various charity fundraisers (walks, runs and stair climbing) as well as the YMCA’s First Coast Games. The most gratifying activity that Tracy has coordinated as a Wellness Champion has been to organize a few Mayo Clinic Caring Canines worksite visits that included her unit as well as the research staff in both Griffin (Cancer) and Birdsall (Neuroscience) buildings.
