Eat better when eating out

What is your opinion on truffle oil? I just read something that said it was bad for you.

Jerelyn, thanks for you note. From a nutritional prospective, oil is a concentrated source of calories at 120 calories per tablespoon. Most oils are mix of unsaturated and saturated fats. Unsaturated fats have an association with better heart health.
From a culinary perspective I employed our resident executive chef, Mark Beland. He shared there is truffle oil that will have pieces of truffle floating in it - good sign that it is infused with the real thing vs. others that are infused with a flavoring (and aroma) agent to mimic truffle flavor. I looked (and smelled) a bottle we have in house and it had both per the ingredient list.
