Healthy Aging Exploration Series

Congratulations, you have made the commitment to yourself – to commit to the 12 Strategies for Healthy Aging! By making this commitment, you’ve shown that you’re ready for positive improvement in your life. And, we’re excited to guide you on this journey. Each month we will focus on a new strategy. When you click the buttons below, you will hear from Mayo Clinic experts as they share tips and resources on the specific strategy and how you can incorporate it into your daily life. 

These strategies are brought to you by Charter House and the Dan Abraham Healthy Living Center. It is open to Mayo Clinic employees, retirees, volunteers, students, spouses and Charter House residents. You can join the challenge by clicking here and submitting your name and email address.

Strategy 1

Visit DAHLC SL-200 on January 25 from 3:30-4:30pm to hear from Mayo Worksite Wellness Coordinator, Linde Sifuentes, as he shares about how moving more can help you stay fit for every stage of your life. 

Strategy 2

Learn the SMART method to becoming more resilient and living a stress-free life. Presentation is held at Charter House-Edwards Hall on Wednesday, Feb. 21 from 3:30-4:30pm. 

Strategy 3

Check out our topic on the MIND Diet with a registered dietitian, Kristen Blixt, at DAHLC SL-200 on Thursday, March 22 at 3:30pm. 

Strategy 4

Kim Lombard presents on strategies to prevent falls in this Ready, Steady, Balance talk on April 25 at 3:30pm at Charter House-Northview 3rd floor.  

Strategy 5

Join sleep specialist, Wendy Moore, as she presents on the topic of resting well on May 17 at 3:30pm in DAHLC SL-200.

Strategy 6

Come hear Angela Lunde speak on how cognitive training can lower your risk for dementia. This will be held on June 20 at 3:30pm at Charter House-Edwards Hall. 

Strategy 7Dr. Laskowski presents on how to stay fit as we age in his topic of How to Keep a Baby Boomer Buff on Wednesday, July 18 at 3:30pm at Charter House-Northview 3rd floor.

Strategy 8

Join JennaLee Whiting as she presents on water coloring at the bedside on Wednesday, August 22 at 3:30pm at Charter House-Edwards Hall.

Strategy 9

Media specialists, Tom Jorgenson and Ashlie Smith, present on making meaningful connections in today's tech-obsessed society. This will be held on Thursday, September 27 at 4pm in DAHLC SL-200. 

Strategy 10

Health & Wellness Coach, Nicole Burow, presents on staying connected in this presentation on Wednesday, October 34 at 3:30pm at Charter House-Edwards Hall. 

Strategy 11

Dermatology physician assistant, Janey Helland, presents on the warning signs of skin cancer and how to combat the harmful effects on Thursday, November 15 at 11am in DAHLC SL-200.

Strategy 12

Hear from Health & Wellness Coach, Desiree Ahrens, on the topic of finding purpose in your life on Wednesday, December 12 at 3:30pm at Charter House-Northview 3rd floor.
