Get Ready to Wear Red!

Did you know that heart disease and stroke cause 1 in 3 deaths among women each year?  That's more than all cancers combined!  But the good news is that 80% of cardiac events can be prevented with lifestyle changes & education.

On Friday, Feb. 3 Wear Red and take a walk!  In order to raise awareness about heart disease in women and to support National Wear Red Day, Mayo Clinic is sponsoring an event!  There will be walking routes both downtown and at St. Marys.  Phillips Hall in the Siebens Building is your downtown starting and ending point - stop by for a healthy snack when you're finished.  In addition, there will activities in Phillips Hall from 10am-1:30pm.  Enjoy the live music, use the photo booth with props and have your picture taken!  Check out information provided by the Dept of Cardiology, Office of Women's Health, the DAHLC, Worksite Wellness and DAHLC Research.  And join the group photo taken on the Hage stairway at noon.

From 10am-1:30pm, St. Marys will also have a walking route.  There will be a table at the south end of the employee cafeteria on ground level as the starting point.  The group photo will be taken at noon in the Francis Tower Lobby.

Purchase a shirt! Proceeds support Go Red for Women - American Heart Association local chapter.  All the information is located here (internal Mayo Clinic link).
