Get excited for Healthy Aging Week at the DAHLC April 25th-29th! We are hosting several fabulous events and offerings geared toward the 55+ population that are only available this week, so come by and check it out! See below for details as well as a descriptive calendar of events for the week.
AOA Fit Day - A workshop for DAHLC members 55 or older to participate in a fitness assessment that can be used to develop or improve their fitness routine.
Employee Assistance Program and Dermatology Screenings - This service is available only to those who are covered by a Mayo Medical Plan and either a DAHLC member or eligible for DAHLC membership. You will need to provide your seven-digit Mayo Clinic patient number when checking in on the lobby level. A limited number of time slots will be available on a first-come, first served basis. On the day of the screenings, sign up in person for EAP from 11am-12pm and Dermatology from 1pm-2pm for an appointment. No sign ups will occur outside of this time frame.
Mindfulness Meditation - In this highly experiential 60-minute workshop, participants will explore various mindfulness tools and techniques through group discussion and guided practice.
Healthy Aging Exploration Series - The DAHLC and Charter House are combining their expertise to offer this monthly exploration series to all Mayo Clinic employees, retirees, volunteers, students, spouses, and Charter House residents. Registration is not required for these free, one hour sessions on various health topics.
Walking Wednesdays - Get outside and enjoy a walk. Visit DAHLC staff and hydrate at the Wellness Stop at Lot 32 on 2nd street, across from the Ronald McDonald House. In case of inclement weather, walk the Subway level and meet in the DAHLC Café.
Laughter Yoga - If you haven't already participated in a Laughter Yoga class, we highly encourage you to. This is a fun combination of stretching, breathing and laughter exercises that will make you feel like a kid again. It also reaps some healthy benefits to add some laughs to your day! Class is held on Friday, April 29th in SL-124 at 12:15pm.
Nutrition for Healthy Aging - Join our dietitians for a discussion on eating well to support healthy aging. Topics covered will include protein, calcium and simple and affordable cooking ideas. Registration opened March 24th; no fee.
Simple and Affordable Protein recipes - This cooking demo class will give you time-saving tips to prepare healthy meals. Samples provided! Registration opens March 30th; $4 fee due at time of registration.
Get Cooking : Cooking for 1 or 2 - This is an interactive cooking class where you get to cut, chop, cook and eat! Registrations opened March 25th; $20 fee due at time of registration.
