The best way to start a Pilates practice is to take the Pilates Foundations program. In the Pilates Foundations program the student will learn the 5 basic principles of Pilates, some mat-based exercises, and some exercises on machines known as the Pilates Chair and the Pilates Reformer.
The program is 8 weeks long meeting for one class per week. The first class cannot be missed as it is devoted to learning the 5 Basic Principles.
Pilates Foundations is offered three times a year: Jan/Feb; May/Jun and Sept/Oct. There are usually 4 to 5 different day/time offerings and a schedule of the different offerings is available one week prior to the opening of registration.
Upon completion of the program, the member is eligible to enroll in the Pilates Group Reformer program.
While Pilates Foundations is required for the Pilates Group Reformer program, it is not a prerequisite for any drop-in Pilates class on the DAHLC Class Schedule.
