Frozen turkey? Don't panic!

By Kate- Dietitian @zeratskykatherine

DAHLC-9003If your turkey is still frozen, don't panic.  You have options:

  • Cold water:  place the wrapped turkey in a bath of cold water.  Change the water every 30 minutes.
  • Microwave:  If you start microwaving, plan to continue the cooking process.  Move from the microwave oven to the conventional oven.
  • Frozen:  You can cook the bird from frozen, you'll need plan for 1 1/2 times the prescribed cooking time.

Cook your turkey to an internal temperature of 165 degrees, check with a thermometer (don't rely on the pop up button).

Happy Thanksgiving!
