Nutrition Tip – Legumes

By Kate- Dietitian

Get a leg up on better health - eat more legumes!IMG_0231

Legumes are a great source of heart healthy protein. They include beans, peas and lentils. Legumes are low in fat, contain no dietary cholesterol and a good source of soluble and insoluble fiber.  Fiber may lower your blood cholesterol levels and risk of cancers, such as colon cancer.

Wondering which ones to choose or how to prepare ask our DAHLC chef or dietitians.
